Traded the Monte Carlo
#24
Awesome car. My dad had a 1996 buick roadmasyer collectors edition back in the day (same car, engine) and it was a ton of fun to tool around in. I miss it. Maybe down the road you could ls-a and six speed swap that bad boy...

I'd beef out the trans. It's relatively cheap to do, too. My buddy, who's shop did my trans upgrades, has a '96 Impala SS, and it died on him at 60,000 miles. Apparently, the 4L60 in it was not designed for that much torque in such a heavy car.
Sweet car, though. I'd consider trading my Grand National for a clean one.

I would love to have a grand national one day. But that day probably wont be for another five years at least so the price is probably going to be even higher for them then.

good decision,b/c and here is my reasoning ..i have been down to gm shows at carlisle,pa for many years..shows at carlisle are huge, its a large place..the annual corvette event /show is the largest gatherings of corvettes in the world ! i have there many times in all kinds ,of differant cars !..took my 2008 impala ss v8[ ls4] to gm day at carlisle two years, in a row.. show was packed with impalas but ,not ours..in our class only had two v8 ss /mine and a black one.. the other 5 were v6 fwd , nobody was interested or looked over our cars..as i heard it said before /we dont fit in ! now the model you bought had over 150 impalas,wow/super! thank god some guys/gals said come down and visit with us under our big tent .. was a really hot day!,gave us cold drinks /snacks/ food, etc..also were about 40/ state troopers from 6 states /restored /they drove them from brand new.!. one asked me how i liked my valentine ? for me as soon as gm makes something like the pontiac g8 , with the drive wheels at the right end , my 2008 ss v8 might be history ? rkvette
