Here's a better idea, change your speed type in the DIC, stick some tape over the speedometer and use the HUD all the time.

HUD still shows k/hr.

When I owned my GP GXP I never look at the speedo, just the HUD.

Exactly.

The point of this is to have the extended range. Changing the DIC to metric not only puts you in km/h territory (not recommended when driving, lol), but it also changes the temperature values on the HVAC, fuel economy settings, and NAV settings (if equipped), among other things.
