It would think it's the mode actuator or the temp actuator. If it blows warm air on both sides, I'd say it's the mode actuator since it's unlikely that both temp actuators are bad.

You can take the actuator apart and clean the dried grease out of it, then put some fresh grease in there. But for $25 I don't think it's worth the hassle of cleaning the old one.

Do you guys know where the temp sensor is located?

This really sounds more like my prob, cause when it doesn't want to work it does absolutely nothing until it decides it wants to. I don't think it's bad, but I want to check the connections to it.

The temp sensor is located below the ignition key behind the dash cutouts.

The mode actuator is located behind the glove box towards the left side of it. Here's a picture that should help you find it.

Is it behind the small circle shaped vent?

PS past two weeks the AC has worked flawlessly (knocking on wood)

Yes it is and it's good that the A/C has been working as it should.

Yes there is and here is the procedure to calibrate it:

1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Place the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Install the HVAC actuator.
4. Connect all previously disconnected components.
5. Remove the HVAC/ECAS fuse for a minimum of 10 seconds.
6. Install the HVAC/ECAS fuse.
7. Start the vehicle.
8. Wait 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate.
9. Verify that no DTCs have set as current DTCs.

You should bring it back for an exchange, it sounds like the part was defective.

Is there something that could be burning these up?

Thank you for your fast responses, between the heat and frustration I'm at my wits end

There could be something damaging the module. If so it's probably a short in the wiring. See what they say at the dealer then let us know.
