The one I looked at the other night definitely sounded like it had an exhaust system on it. The tires looked a little low on tread for 72K miles on it, assuming they were not the stock tires. I was somewhat turned off by that car due to those ques. I would like to find something stock personally. I'm keeping my eye out. Doesn't seem to be a lot in the phoenix area. I looked at two more tonight. One had something going on with the paint on the rear quarter panel that looked shady, and the other had a dent in the front bumper and was missing some molding.
Warranty's, recalls, plus its the first year they made them like that so theres still would be some bugs in them. Im not saying dont get it, just becareful. There's a lot of 06's out there that are awesome condition, but if it was a 20 year old that had that car before you id watch out. In mine i found a number of a guy that had mine before me, i called him and he was 50 so i was alright. At first what i would do is check the avg mgp and see what is says, highway miles would be awesome
In our experience with these cars over the past few years, there have been very few differences in the number of problems from model year to model year. In other words, an '06 is 99% identical to later models. All model years suffer from warn front-hub assemblies, transmission problems, various electrical gremlins, abnormal rear tire-wear, etc. Now, I'm not saying that every car has the problems, but you're just as likely to eventually have them with a 2009 model as you would be with a 2006.
As for recalls, we all got the power steering high-pressure hose recall. It applies to all of the V8 W-bodies. Lots of TSBs on all of them, too.
As for warranty, if you buy GM CPO, then you get 5 years or 100,000 miles from the original in-service date of Powertrain Warranty. You also get 3 months/12,000 miles bumper to bumper. This for all model years. It is true that the 2007s got a better standard warranty, and this can make a difference if you buy private party.
