DOD delete=new camshaft?

So I contacted a well known shop for the LS engines and they informed me I'll get missfire codes if I don't change the camshaft if I do a DOD delete. While I know everyone wants more HP, I don't necessarily need it.
The 6 sp transmission I"m using has deep first gear, and I can't put too tall of a tire on this car and it's a realtivly light car. I'll be running non smog so that right there will yield me some HP.
So you guys that have done DOD delete, have you had any missfire codes/problems?

The camshaft lobes for the DoD cylinders are slightly larger to counteract the additional slop (for lack of a better term) in the DoD lifters.
So if you swap out the lifters and keep the DoD camshaft, then you should have slightly more lift on the 4 original DoD cylinders.
What I do not know is would this small amount of greater lift in 4 of the 8 cylinders even be detectable as a misfire.
