Default P/N for Trunk Release Actuator?

I've lived with a dead trunk lid release actuator for about 2 years now and am finally going to replace it. Problem is that the GM p/n that I've found everywhere and the respective photo do not jive. Our release harness has a 4-pin connector and the ones I've found everywhere else are 2-pin.

The GM/AC Delco p/n is 16640848. Not sure what the p/n is that is stamped on the actual part...I'll check that later on if I find the time.

Has anyone else done this repair yet? Or is it just me with a million and one electrical gremlins?

I don't actually see the actuator listed separately from the latch itself. The latch has a part number of 20815645. The two pin connector you are seeing is for the ajar switch, that's part number 12117275. The part number for the 4 pin repair connector is 88988815. But if you need the actuator, you are looking at getting the latch, even though it actually doesn't list it in the catalog as including the actuator, only says it comes with the emergency release handle. Regular dealership list price should be about 172.00.

Although, the part number for the listed 16640848 does come up as an actuator, but for some reason doesnt show as listed for this car. Strange, I'll keep doing some digging here.

I'd hit the junkyard for it at that price.

Yeah, that's nuts...and bulls**t at the same time. I can easily separate the actuator from the latch by removing three small torx screws...shouldn't be sold as one piece.

I must have been pulling p/n's for the MC; my book does show a one-piece unit on the Impala page...but a different p/n: 15817924, with a cost of $123.57 (granted, this is from a collision parts book from years ago, so prices and occasionally p/n's change). GMPartsDirect has it for $101 with their usual ridiculous amount for shipping.

Thanks for looking this up Red. Gonna call the dealership now.

EDIT: I had been looking on eBay by part number and "actuator," but just searched for "latch" and found the latch unit for $45 plus $8 shipping, newly listed so no bids, with a BIN price of $75. Gonna stalk that one for a week and see what happens.

Of course it would be something other than the latch itself. Replaced it with the new part today and nada, zip, zilch

I thought i was getting power to the old switch, but will have to check again.

Just in case anyone else runs into this issue...

The trunk latch is fixed. It turned out to be worn & broken wires on the decklid near where it bends into the trunk. There are little ziptie clips that attach the wires to the decklid, and in one particular area they are covered with plastic tubing. Over the years, two pieces of plastic tubing separated (good'old GM...used a piece or corrugated tubing too short so just slapped another 2" piece on the wires to make reach). This allowed the wires to rub against the zip tie and evenutally break.

Since I had no wiring diagram to help diagnose the power issue, the power I found at the actuator plug was the always-on power, and not the actuator power.

Frankly, it was easier to replace the latch than it was to spend hours of my time tracing a no-power situation, which in the end bit me in the *** since I had to do it anyway.

Anyone need a new trunk latch/actuator??? lol Fits 2004-2008 GPs and 2006-2011 Impalas.

I'm having the same problem with my latch. I get a short burst of 12 volts at the actuator when I push the button. 2006 buick lacrosse. 4 wires going to plug. 1 ground. 2 have power all the time. 1 gets the short burst when I push the button. any ideas?
