transmission options

transmission options What are you guys without warranty doing for transmissions replacements/rebuilds? mine would slip in 1st from a stop every now and then, its been doing that for a couple years. now its really not liking highway speeds. when the torque converter locks, you can feel it struggling to stay locked... then if i have to give it more gas it slips, then bangs back into being lock.
anyway, what options are out there for them? i see autozone carries one with a 3 year warranty, but their quality is up in the air for me(i think its an al-trans brand) warranty is great an all, but thats a lot of work to keep having to redo.
then theirs also triple edge performance, but if i have to send my out thats a lot of down time for my daily driver.
i just want something that's good, and addresses the issues of the factory built transmission.

Of course you have the rebuild transmissions that Jasper and Autozone offer but if they don't replace the internal components with upgraded parts then it is only going to fail again. I have heard TEP actually replaces the weak parts in the transmission with upgraded parts so its less likely to fail. Maybe they could send you one and you send your core to them when you get the new one installed. The only other option is to get the parts you need with guidance from TEP and have a local transmission shop do the work.
Dave @ TEP will sell you all of the parts that go into one of his built trannys. You'd just need to find a local shop to do the work, as SS07 mentioned.

that sounds like a good option. did you get his complete kit? i think it was like 750 or so?

looks like monster transmissions also offer a somewhat upgraded 4t65e
i asked about it and this is all i got back from them so far, i did ask for more detail on what had been improved.
price isnt too bad at 2,249.00, said thats with shipping and converter + 800 core.

Our 4T65E has some upgrades to improve it over OE, but not any extreme performance upgrades.
