2006 MC SS factory wheel offset
I am trying to rid myself of the ridiculous "tucked" look of the factory wheels. I swear GM was embarrassed by the stockers and were trying to hide them!
as far as the bolt pattern issue, 5x4.5 is 5x4.5, this directly translates to 114.3mm but the .7 mm added to get to the next integer (115) isn't going to make a difference...there's a .028 inch difference, plus the wheel studs will encur mostly pressure from the forward rotational force if the wheels are hub centric, the hub then locates the wheel to keep it spinning evenly relative to the hub itself...think of a brake rotor and how its designed, its the same concept
I'm trying to run 275/35-20s on the front of my IMP SS with a wheel 8.5" wide and more than a +25mm offset (closer to 30, but not 100% sure yet), I might have to go for a 275/30-20 (same diameter as stock) or 265/35-20 but I'm confident in the 275/35-20 based on the 3 different sets of wheels and tires (including stock) that have been on the car, and my resulting measurments...but in back I've ran a 245/35-20 (8.5" wide +38mm wheels) and a 225/55-18 (blizzak, stock wheel) had no problem with the blizzak's however with the 245/35-20's I had to run 2 degrees of negative camber (effectively moving the top of the tire inward, and bottom outward) or they would rub going over any little bump (car is lowered 1.7/1.7 as well, for now, it sags)...and I had to have the car realigned before I put the blizzaks on or they would rub up against the strut in back...the widest I'd go in back (without rolling the fenders) on an 18 is a 235mm, with a 20 the smallest they make is 245mm and the extra 1.5 inches (38mm) that my 8.5", +38mm wheel and tire combo stick out made the tire rub
hope this helps

Plan on replacing the stock wheels with something else (still on 18s though) and was hoping to go a bit wider. Guess that idea is out.

I suppose you could get away with some 245/50-18's in back with the right offset, possibly on stockers...but if and ONLY if your never going to lower/add weight to the rear of the car
I think Alabama guy runs 245/45-18s on all 4 on his Monte IIRC
Just going wider up front will have a huge impact on the overall feel of the car...minimized torque steer, better launch, more grip for turns, and probs less front end plow in turns which is really my only gripe at this point, of course less understeer is always nice on a FWD car but I'm not painting these damn rear fenders...
