Default UPDATED 11/1/2012: LS4 Headers from CalSpeed Coming Soon!

Note to mods: CalSpeed and Performance is a LS1TECH sponsor, so this post is within the site's product advertising guidelines.

GMLS4.com has been working with CalSpeed and Performance of Bakersfield, CA to develop an improved, low-cost set of headers for the LS4 community.

This has been in the works for a while now, and I can finally share a few snippets about what is to come:

1. The GMLS4/CalSpeed headers will be a bolt-on piece, unlike the "other brand" which requires welding.

2. Our headers will be equipped with a pre-drilled and welded bung for a wideband O2 sensor. It will be delivered with a plug in it for those not using a wideband.

3. The GMLS4/CalSpeed headers will be built from polished stainless steel, not mild steel like our competitors.

4. All GMLS4/CalSpeed headers are made in the USA. 'Nuff said!

5. The GMLS4/CalSpeed headers will have a projected retail price of somewhere between $300-$350 + shipping. This is going to be an everyday price, so you won't need to wait for a group purchase.

6. Dyno numbers are pending, but gains should be similar to that offered by our competitors.

We're hoping to deliver the first sets of these headers sometime in the mid-fall.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here or just shoot me a PM. Also, if you have interest in buying set, post it on this thread. It will give us an idea of how many we'll need to order in the first run.

Like any product in development, specs, materials and prices are subject to change, but will be communicated when the headers are offered for sale.

Because DT headers cost nearly $1000 most of the time, and even when they're on group purchase, they cost $650 or so. Making 15-20 WHP for that kind of scratch doesn't offer much bang for the buck.

Getting the same 15-20 WHP, plus the additional enhancements, all for around $300 makes this a no-brainer.

Probably not without serious modifications.

BTW- I did discuss the idea of a turbo setup with CalSpeed.

Jim said they could do a turbo kit for the LS4 cars with intercooler, BOV, all piping, the turbo itself and everything to make it work (including a base tune), and the price would be around $2500. The problem is, he would need to have buyers for a minimum of 50 kits before he could place an order.

And while $2500 is a screaming deal for a dedicated setup for our cars, it's still a lot of money, and it would be hard to find 50 takers in our small community (given the price tag).

Right, and at 20-25 units, the cost would be around $5000 apiece, which is the going price for the currently available setups.

Yeah that is a killer deal. I would be a taker at that price. Dont know how I feel about having my DD turbo'd while my "toy" is N/A lol. If we really tried, I am sure we could find 50 people. It would just be a hell of a chore.

Maybe if we could get a deal for some other LS guys to by kits, it would help the cause

I think I remember some posts of truck guys buying calspeed headers too.

Basically they are knock offs of known headers (pacesetter, lpp, etc), but more inexpensive.

With all of the differences outlined in the first post, I don't think you'll be able to call these knock offs.

I'm assuming they'll bolt right up to the DP? Or will they replace it all together?
