LS7 MAF install...and why the LS4 MAf sucks.
Thanks to nmp0098 for doing the swap first this gave me all the go ahead i needed to go ahead with the swap.
**This is a tune then drive mod--in that order** See attached files **
Parts list
# 15865791 Z06 MAF (card style)
Saxon PC honey comb airflow straightner for 4' Tubing.https://us-dc1-order.store.yahoo.net...unYvhjCW2osw--
4'Air filter of course
3.25-4inch Adapter for stock LS4 TB to 4' piping
22deg. bend for fender well or 45 deg. for CAI guys
MAF flange adapter---Ebay all day.
MAF should be placed in a straight section and preferbly away from the TB as possible.
you will also have to repin your maf connector which is very easy. however youll want to verify your wiring diagram against mine, because they vary throughout the years mine is an 06 here is the diagram followed by the link for how to repin.

whats awesome about these youll never max one of these out, the throttle response is way better and i mean way better and the intake sound is amazing. Ill make a enclousure for my filter and update when i get around to it. im a bigger fan of pulling air from the fender instead of next to the radiator.
Of course you will need to tune, however you can start up and drive but i assume no damage if you mess something up yourself. You will need the 2007 Z06 MAF TABLES and scale the IAT Table or your tuner can modify accordingly. Here are some pics i will make it cleaner when i get around to it.
If youre tuner needs MAF tables see attached**

UPDATE: pics of the factory GM LS4 MAF
besides choking the motor even more than the Intake manifold the factory Maf measures 3.11 inches I.D inside...which is consistent with the Throttle body inlet however. there is a airfoil inside the Maf...those who are familiar with airplanes and wing designs know the principal of high/low pressure. the wire side that is of course on the low pressure side but the problem each split section of the maf is around 1.2 inches in diameter which gives you an area of about 2.5 inches. Upgrading this choke point in the intake greatly improved everything about the throttle response/mileage and probably picked up some hp with it. here are some pics of the factory MAF apart. BTW anybody wanting to know a price on the card style mafs they are CHEAP got mine for 45bucks shipped on EBAY. bought some aluminum tubing and made it happen.

Great write up and I will look into this mod. I just bought a LS2 TB and 85mm MAF to go with my upcoming TPiS 90mm inlet.
It would interesting to compare KPA readings between the LS4 and LS7 @ WOT

Got a couple of 75% throttle runs in no WOT because for the life of me i cant get my dumb LC1 to log properly through A/C pressure. But i ve dialed in via fuel trims, I love how quickly this MAF responds compared to the old LS4 and as for MAP readings highest ive hit since is around the 88 range

I hit 98-99@WOT till 5800 then I drop to 96-97. This indicates a intake restriction, so the MAF needs to go bye bye...

I installed a card style 100mm MAF and 4" air tube on my GTO. Made a nice 23 hp gain on a LS1. But, you need a good tuner to tune for the MAF change. I hope people don't think this MAF is a simple plug and play. It does require tuning.

Cool stuff - thanx for the info, I'm planning to use it on both my LS4 projects.
Found this, seller was good to work with and gave me a break on a second one..
