Default Westers vs. Nelson tune

Has anyone ever got either of these tunes on their 5.3's? I had a Nelson one done on my 5.3 Sierra and loved it... just wondering how the 5.3's in these cars do with em? I like the idea of these for the dual octane and the fact that they are cheap. I'd like a trinity with a diablew tune but 685 is just way too much.

I had a Nelson done on my LS1 GTO and I picked up .6 sec in the 1/4 mile!

I also have one on my LS1 Z28, didn't gain as much but still noticeable.

Nelson has great tunes, great guy to work with.

Ya I was wondering that myself. From the site and from talking with him when I got my truck done he really stresses about the trucks. Westers I think advertises LS4's on their site though. One thing I remember from Nelson though... was that they could only dual tune with octanes right next to each other, ex. 87/89, 89/90 etc. Whereas Westers seems like they can do the jump from 87/91 which is what I need. The price of gas here in Canada is over $5 a gallon for those of you that don't know the conversion from price per gallon to price per liter. So I am usually limited to regular on my budget, however I do enjoy premium from time to time when I want to shut up some of these guys around here who think their ecoboost f-150's are fast lol.

just as an added fyi... I've had to fix a lot of their LS4 tunes for other LS4 owners that had previously gotten tunes from either one of them, heh...

and you don't have to get the Trinity deal for 685... the inTune programmer for our cars works just as well.. and I offer a package deal for it as well, that includes my custom tuning at a reduced rate so you save$$... and the inTune programmer is cheaper, so the package deal for it is only $485 (if you're in the U.S.)....

http://intune.diablewtune.com

no one knows these cars like I do, since I own one and have had it tuned for 7 years haha... and trucks, pffft... I've done over 1367 tunes in the past few years.. ls4's, 4.8L-6.2L trucks, vettes, camaro's, and gto's....1999-2013... anything and everything that diablo supports for GM vehicles, I've done it...

please feel free to hit me up via PM or email if you have any questions...

What sorts of octane combinations can I get? Also being in university for accounting I'm always trying to save money where I can. Accountants don't fall too well for marketing tactics . The 185 dollar price difference could be almost two and a half extra tanks of gas for me to burn through after the tune lol. Is there not anything cheaper than 485 that you offer Lew?

Not trying to totally shut you out, but after the great job Nelson did with my truck it's hard not to go back. Seems like the best bang for the buck. Also you mention the in-tune is 485 if I'm in the U.S. I'm in Canada so it will definitely be a lot more than 485 lol.

You could pick up a used Predator for around $175-ish. You can't go wrong with a tune from Lew

Yeah... I'd save my pennies for a Lew tune. I don't think you'll find anyone who's regretted it. Other shops have done well for people here and there but he's the only one with dozens and dozens of consistently good reviews, that I know of.

You can't get your trans tuned with the predator tho. The intune supports the trans tuning. So your best bet would be trying to pick up a used intune for around 250. Then the tune would cost 135 so you'd be at $385 total. Which could save you $100.

Ya I was trying to find a used one on ebay. Are intunes matched for each vehicle or will they all support any vehicle if I did get a used one? Maybe Lew can chime in again

as long as the person selling it has restored the original backup stock tune to their vehicle in order to unlock/reset the intune, yes it will work on your car...

if they didn't and you get it and it's locked, it's going to cost you $160 to get it unlocked/reset by diablo...

and regarding your other post about being in canada, it'd be $515 shipped...

not sure if I answered these questions for you in all the emails we exchanged, but there ya go hahaha...

and correct... no TCM/tranny support with predators...

plus, all predators were discontinued almost a year ago now... all replaced by the inTune...
