Default Noob question about torque steer

Yes I am an LS4 noob.. I've had my 09 Impala SS a little over a month. I've felt torque steer a few times while gettin on it a little, but always in one direction. This morning I went about 15-20 to the top of first gear, and it was pulling BOTH ways, first one way then the other. It was very unsettling, like I was barely in control of the car. I think the car is stone stock, all I've done is load the 91 octane tune from the Trinity, just wondering if their TCM programming could have done something? Is this common for these cars?

I don't think these cars actually have bad torque steer. I have drove vehicles with far less power that the torque steer was not fun. I mean my g/f can floor it from a stop and control it with any issue. However, when one of my tie rods went, this was one of the scariest things ever. The car jumped from one side of the road to the other. If its that unsettling I would double check to make sure all of your front suspension is good.

I had pretty bad torque steer when I first got my Imp. It is because the car is FWD with a transverse mounted engine. Because of that the transmission mounts closer to one side of the car and cause the drive shafts to be different lengths. So when you hit the gas the shorter drive shaft transfers power to that wheel quicker causing you to pull to one side. I bought the car with 60k miles on it and it still had the original tires on it. I put some Nitto Motivos on it a couple weeks ago and the torque steer is completely gone. So you might just need some new tires if your suspension is all good.

Well I've experienced the torque steer before, every time I goose it. Until now it's just been a quick little tug at the wheel at the start of the acceleration. This almost felt like I was skating down the street. The torque steer must have switched directions at least 4-5 times. I guess if the wheels were spinning, the torque management might cause that? I'm gonna try the stock tune and see if it does the same. I think I'm gonna need tranny work anyway, I'm starting to get some rev-clunks and sometimes it has to think about shifting in 4th. Only 36K miles on this one, too... and I'll check the suspension... thanks for your responses.
