Took a slightly different approach to re-building the spring loop, though, just as an experiment. I looked at the cut groove and decided to try applying something more structural than the same plastic getting another hole.
Result was finding a cotter pin that small to set in about the same location (really wanted a bushing, but didn't want to make a store run). It wound up setting in there nicely, and held in place with just one hole made for a "tiny" zip-tie out of the way of any functions.





Works normally, and even has a secondary catch with that leg, if it wears through the 1st layer of metal (although spring would probably wear out 1st). Also still leaves the ability to do the write-up's version with a hole, if I want to change it later. I'd much rather put a thin plate on that front face, with a hole, instead, but I may never need to do that.
