ls2 cam would an ls2 cam and yellow springs be a good upgrade from stock? i have a friend who is parting out his gto and the parts would be free. just looking at improving without dropping a lot on a new cam
The stock LS4 camshaft is very similar to the stock LM7 and here is an article where they compared nearly all the factory camshafts in a LM7 5.3L.

The LS2 camshaft gave up 18 lb-ft at 2500 vs. the LM7, but gained 48 hp and 78 hp at 5500 rpm and 6200 rpm respectively.
My only caution would be to really see the gains from the LS2 camshaft, you probably also need an intake swap and some exhaust work.
