are you using a already learned key (master) or you may have activated the security system prior to connecting the tech2
verify the system and key first, this may help:

Verify that you can access the RCLR module and it works... first and that it has the proper calibration ID.
then
With the tech 2 clear all codes in all modules, parking brake set and all doors, hood, trunk closed. Turn key to ON position and verify security light comes on and goes off then hook up the tech 2 and try the procedure again.
