Yesterday I traded in my 08 GXP for a 2015 VW GTI SE /w lighting package. I'll always have a special spot in my heart for W-Bodies ( The GXP was my second silver 04+ grand prix) The GXP was near 100K and was starting to have some mechanical issues so I figured it was time.
They only gave me 5300 on the GXP with 95k. I had a quarter size rust spot under the hood on the hood latch and on the rear wheel well and they said the body was in terrible condition. It did need 4 new tires. They said even if my car was in show room condition and 50k miles they'd only be able to give a max of 6k. I had to fight them hard to give me the 5300 because they only wanted to give me 4k.
Typical dealer BS. I think you made a very good choice on the GTI tho. I've had my 04 Jetta GLI for over 100k hard miles and 7 years and loved every minute so far. Those new GTIs run 12s with just a tune and drag radials, btw
I'm probally going to drive it stock for atleast a year before doing an APR tune. That stage 1 tune with no other mods puts out like 300ish whp and 350ish tq. I'll prob just get an open cone intake for the sound. Its such a nice and fun car to drive. The interior is amazing.
