Default GTP vs GXP axles

Are the GTP and GXP axles on the passenger side interchangeable does anyone know? I am getting multiple different part numbers and axle lengths and input spline types for the base model, GT, GTP and GXP.

Cardone is showing 66-1435 for the GXP, and 66-1256 for the GTP.

I know, issue im having is none of my local parts store have these in stock except for the GTP axles, however they are listing the same dimensions for both of them.

Why though, i see on one site here the GTP axles are an inch shorter, but the steering knuckles and wheel bearings, including the output shaft of the trans and the control arm are all the same, so why the two different length axles? If they are identical parts connecting them all between theres no reason why the GTP axle shouldnt fit, what problem did you encounter when you tried to install the GTP axle?

well i had to see it for myself so i went and bought the only remaining GTP axle i could find locally. First let me say that carquest axles are GSP axles, second let me say that GSP are made in china JUNK. The threads on the hub end were completely cut wrong and i ruined both axle nuts trying to get one to thread on. Secondly, the GTP axle is litterally almost IDENTICAL on the outside, however the inner axle shaft appears to be exactly 1.2" shorter which caused it to pull out when it was tightened, other then that it was crazy how much it matched up to the GXP axle side by side.

no big deal, i just took it back to advance and they didnt even ask me what was wrong with it. I did however figure out what happened with the old one, the c clip broke on the cv shaft side which allowed the shaft to just back out of the cage when i did the wheel bearing, it was allowing the shaft to just spin freely in the boot. I should be able to put it all back together and run it until monday when the new one arrives. Gonna try it out tomorrow.

Oh god not advance, they sell the cv axles with typically 3 bellows on the boot which cause it to tear prematurely. Ensure yours has 4 to 5 like oem or else you'll find yourself with a grease suprise in a week or two

yeh i typically NEVER use parts store brand for anything, ive been using cardone select axles for 10 years now never one broken or gone bad. That's what I have on order right now but the rarity of the GXP axles makes it impossible to find anywhere but from cardone directly. The price of the acdelco's is outrageous.
