parasitic drain

Default parasitic drain

Hey guys , I've got an 06 gxp and I've got a drain on my battery. I traced it to the auxiliary pwr in the under hood fuse box , it's drawing approx. 70 milli amps.
I'm assuming this is the radio circuit , if this is correct , does anyone know what else might use that as well. It will help narrowing down what the issue is.

I don't have the answer, but pull the fuse and see what doesn't work . Check seat, steering wheel controls, hvac controls, everything electrical. Maybe Sint3k will save you with one of his fantastic schematics

i had a similar issue, ended up being the latch assemble in the trunk. wasnt registering it as closed but wasnt throwing a error on the dash either. was very odd.

Hmmmm. I'm throwing a service vehicle message (not service engine) ,been like that for a long time. Wonder if it's related. Been to the dealership but they say it's for lights that are out even though on my car everything is working. What was wrong with the latch , wouldn't open or not grounded?

actually thats sounds familar, i ended up taking it to the place that put the battery in assuming it was a bad one. they did say it was pulling a code pointing to the trunk.

the latch worked fine, but it wasnt registering that it was shut. a new latch fixed it.

So I figured it out , with the circuit diagram I realized that I wired my electric cutout to the lighter circuit . I located the switch in the console.

I'll have to look for ignition switch pwr to fix.

My cutout uses 0 miliamps, and so should yours. Unless it is some automatic one. If you have a draw from a typical switch, then id be concerned about the switch having something wrong internally

Installed at the y as it splits to the mufflers , aims straight back. The race shop that did it had alot of die grinding and some awkward welding to do but did an awesome job. Was almost a figure 8 shape when the hole was cut.

Damn, that thing looks bad *** there. Not real sure that placement is where you would see the most gain from but it is eye candy for sure. Looks like they did a nice install. Is it loud there?

Haha ya it's loud as hell, only have to cracked it a bit to be satisfied !!

So these electric cutouts are not stall motors ? Just trying to eliminate drain. Any easy access wires close to the console that I can get ignition power to it ?

I added my own power wire, and then added an on and off switch to disconnect it from the rocker switch.
