Thinking out loud
)I tried the TapShift and everything has been working great. Only put about 200 miles on the car though. License expired on it while it sat, and my backup car runs out at the end of this month. Going to let it expire and renew the GXP then sell the backup car. I didn't see the point in licensing it just to let it sit.
As far as labor costs go, I can't tell you what an actual number would be. My Dad owns his own shop so he and my brother did it for me for next to nothing. He still wrote up a ticket on it and everything but I didn't bother looking to see how much it should have been.
The $600 core wasn't worth having it sitting around in the way to me. I'd rather have the money and not have to deal with storing it somewhere. I'll probably drive the car for a while and see how it goes. Never had a car fail me majorly like this so I feel like I'm driving a ticking time bomb given these cars reputations lol
I will let you all know how it goes. I decided to bypass the TEP transmission. If I install this myself, it will be $1,300. Hoping to get another 100,000 miles out of it.
So these do come with a new torque converter? Is there anything else I need aside from some transmission fluid?
I drive about 25,000 miles a year with my DD, so I will be a good practical test for this option for those that are stock or bolt-on only.

The transmission shops I spoke to used them.

When I got it back from the shop, I noticed I had a leak at the pan/gasket area. I fixed that this weekend and it is dry as a bone so far. It looks like when torqued, the gasket/pan was not torqued evenly kinking one side. I cleaned it all up and reinstalled and so far, so good. That is when I noticed the differential line sonnax kit installed.
The transmission runs very slightly warmer than the old one, perhaps because everything is so tight?
