Default Need Help Picking Out Trans Cooler Kit

Both of my LS4s are getting a cooler. I'm choosing between the custom kit from TEP, which appears to be plug and play with everything I need, which is this one here...price is $309

http://shop.tripleedgeperformance.co...TC4921-LS4.htm

This other one on eBay uses the same size type and size of cooler, and is way cheaper because it appears to be a more universal kit...was recommended by someone on LS4 Nation on FB...price is $139

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191796678400

So, considering I need 2, as I have 2 LS4s, what am I spending the extra $340 with TEP? Braided hoses, nicer fittings, the cooler end of the line welded on, and that's about it, right? I know the cheaper kit has brackets that may need to be modified to fit my cars properly.

Am I better off with spending the extra on the TEP kit, or should I just stick with the universal eBay kits? Any help is appreciated...I don't know much about transmission coolers, and have never installed one. I work for a Cadillac dealer, and when labor is $30/hr for me, I'll let them do it!!!!

I just installed this cooler 3 weeks ago on my 08 GXP:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B0OYI9O...I1BYSVL7T11OTU

It has everything you need in the kit to get on the road. It is a VERY tight fit (I removed bumper) and I put spacers on the bottom radiator support bracket to allow it to slide in place. I installed it as a standalone unit.

Temps dropped from 195-205 average, to not getting any hotter than 160. It was an immediate difference.

IMO, yes, that is what you are paying for is the stainless steel pieces, but there is obviously a ton of margin built in.

Thanks for the input...I wonder what the physical size difference is between yours and the ones I quoted above.

No one I talked to on LS4 Nation mentioned removing the bumper, but I can easily see where you might need to. Gotta love 30/hr labor as a job perk, either way!

I did the GXP without removing the bumper, on my Comp G I removed the bumper and it was much easier. I think the eBay kit is a much better deal, and if you search that on Amazon it got excellent reviews as well. If you are mechanically inclined it is not hard at all, if you are in Florida you probably wont use the thermal bypass so maybe see if it is available without as they are not cheap. That or sell them.

Any trans cooler is pretty much plug and play, get the best deal you can that's a stacked plate and the biggest one you can budget. Derale, b&m make good ones. It's low psi lines so personally don't waist the $$ on an line and fittings as it's pretty much hidden.
