Unhappy Tensioner issue

Hello everybody. I see this seems to be a Chevy forum but I run the same engine as the SS. My 2008 GXP 5.3 L has an issue. I got a mechanic to replace my serpentine belt and in the process he broke my tensioner. I ordered a tensioner from an 07' GXP 5.3 L. I was wondering will this tensioner be compatible with my year and if not is there any way to tighten the belt manually. Also, could I find a shorter belt and correct the problem that way?

no you can not tighten manually. Tensioner mantains a tight belt as it stretches and wears. never try to subsitute belt sizing it doesn't work. Buy the new tensioner

Default Tensioner issue

Would I be able to use a universal tensioner being it seems the tensioner isn't easy to find for my engine?

Default Tensioner issue

Also I did purchase a serpentine belt tensioner for my engine (5.3 L) but it's from a 07' (5.3 L) a year earlier than my model.
