Information on LS Engines Here Came across this tonight. Here's a great link to information on the Gen III LS engines, including the 5.3l LS4.

Tim, reading through that article, I believe the 5.3 it is referring to is the truck motor. The LS4 is technically a Gen IV, like the LS2/LS7.

- Ceramic bead Peened Final Drive Sun Gear
- Input/Reaction Carrier Assembly
------ Contour Hardened ReactionInternal Gear
------ Input Carrier & Gear Asm. with lube grooves
------ Shot-peened, Black-oxided Input Carrier Pinions
------ Shot-peened Reaction Carrier Pinions
- Shot-peened Final Drive Sun shanft
