Default Drop in K&N

I just ordered a Drop in K&N filter and was wondering what kind of gains if any will I see. MPG, Sound, and Performance. I've always had an LRI or FWI on my cars but have read that the GXPs don't care to much for those and thus the reason for the K&N. Any inputs.

Also I ordered a 160* thermostat for a 06 GTO LS2, gonna drain all the Dexcool, flush the engine a couple of times and then install the 160* and some distilled water and a touch of the green stuff and maybe some water wetter or Royal purple stuff and maybe she'll run alittle cooler than she does now.

Any inputs are welcome!

Haven't changed out the filter, still got the stock paper one myself. Not sure what changes you might see.

Not trying to start an argument... but why would you put the green stuff in? Dexcool has a longer life and is designed to be used on these engines. You start having problems when mixing the green and pink together. I know for a fact that when mixed together they start gumming up. And there is no way you would ever get all of the Dexcool out even if you flushed it 10 times.

Also thinking about getting a 160 t-stat. Looking at where it is... its gonna be a bitch to change out. But it will be worth it to not have a friggen oven under the hood.

Factory coolant mix, Water wetter, 180 stat, and tuning to change the fan settings will get the car cooled down enough. If you dont change the stat and the fan settings nothing will happen. You need antifreeze to keep the car from boiling over, a high water/all water mix is for race cars that dont get driven through traffic, etc.

As far as Dex-cool goes I don't really mind it as much as the pellets they put in the coolant from GM. I'll drain and flush it a couple to 4 times and then fill it up with the green stuff. I've always liked it better. I change my radiator fluid about every year or so because I love to tinker with cars so longevity is not a problem and I live in San Antonio, TX where the coldest it gets is maybe 35 for all of a week and a half. Yes I will still have antifreeze in the car it will just be a mix of about 25-75 or maybe even 30-70 antifreeze to distilled water and a bottle of water wetter or the Royal Purple stuff. I've ran this combo in my 04 Comp G for the last 2 years and when I first did it I noticed a difference of about 20* cool all the time. Also will probally drill the thermostat so I get alittle coolant threw all the time.

Has anyone thought of making a fan control switch? Anyone have any access to wiring diagram for the GXPs/SS's?
