Anyone tried one of these yet? I was thinking it would be a good alternitive to those not wanting to mess with alot of tuning or those that don't have a laptop.

Nope...but it interested me. Is this the unit that holds manufacturer preset tunes and you can switch between, for instance, a performance tune and an economy tune? Can you mess with other stuff, too?

Had one for an 01 Silverado I used to drive. Loved it actually... there were several parameters you could adjust. It didn't really seem to add much power, just gave me the ability to adjust transmission settings. However all I had on that truck was an air intake. If you were going to mod the car alot then I wouldn't recommend it. The farther you get from stock the less likely a "mail order" type tune is going to work good.
However this was about 3 years ago... they may have more tuning functionality available now than they used to.

Looks like it covers the stuff I think is important for these cars: Turning the fans on earlier to get out of the ECT timing retard area and upping line pressure some 10% when shifting for good luck. Looks like you can read KR to see if you got carried away with timing adjustments. I didnt see anything listed there for removing some of the torque management (which is quite annoying when shifting at stock levels, a big item I think). I give it a 'maybe' (or get HPT like I did!
