Default Drove a 2006 Monte SS!

Let me tell you, all you guys/gals with the new fwd 303HP Monte SS's got a pretty damn fast car! Seeing how I have an 88 Monte SS, I HAD to go drive a new one...The only problem I ran into was when I punched it with the traction control? on was it would bog way down when it started moving, and when the traction control? was off, it would spin the tires and hurt the potential! What is the secret here? And has anyone raced any Mustang GTs? And if so, how did you fare?

if you take t/c off and don't slam on it there really isn't a problem. If you hit it mildly with t/c off thougn, you might spin even more then with traction on or slaming it. i don't get it either, though. I have raced a lot of older stlyle (99-04) mustang gt's and they don't put up much of a fight. The new one's though.....

Just hope the new mustang driver has an auto and doesn't know what their doing.

Yeah you really can't floor it from a dead stop... its gonna spin bad. You have to squeeze the throttle somewhat slowly.

The torque management and TC systems really hold the car back. With TC off, if you were to try to merge into traffic from a side road and you punched it, you could get killed. Even with it off, if the computer senses one side spinning, it cuts almost all power to both to get you back on track. You really have to know how to work the throttle to keep this from happening. Same thing going forward...if you punch it with TC off, once it finds traction and the tires stick, it will cut power to the wheels, leaving you dead in the water for that split second.

Plenty of SS and GXP guys have said that they can keep up with the new GT autos, but the manual is definitely quicker....tons quicker? No.

There is a new commercial for the Mustang GT and they say it does 0-60 in 4.9 I guess that is what Ford says they can do.

So the 99-04 Mustang GTs get smoked by the new SS? I figured they would!
