ok.. here is the thing.. i want a deeper meaner sound for my exhaust. BUT i don't want something loud. I'm not into the loud, wake up the town, roll over the dead sound of some of the V8 cars around here. I love the sound of the SS now but want that just a lil bit deeper and a bit more noticable. Anyone have any ideas? Sound clips??

^ What Tony said. I heard the Magnaflows sound clip for the Impala and wasn't too impressed.. Sounded kinda popcorny. I think Flows would be way too loud... Anyone try anything else with good results.. A deep growl would be ideal, without be obnoxious.

 

I heard the magnaflow soundclip on their website really doesnt do it justice. I expect to have mine Tuesday and installed by Wendesday and I'll see if I can get a good audio clip after its installed.

I have the magnaflow on my car. During normal driving it is almost unnoticable inside the car. it is a little louder outside the car, but nothing like some cars I have heard. The only time it gets really noticeable is when you open it up, but thats what I wanted.

It's the sound you are probably looking for.

My Camaro SS is sporting the GMMG chambered system, which has the *** kicking C6R sound to it . IT DOES SCARE THE MINIVAN DRIVERS in my neighbor hood It also SCARES MUSTANG DRIVERS as well. And the Fast and Furious crowd won't even come out of the parking lots. Yes - they can hear it over their 100 HP stereo system.

Played around on the highway with a modded '06 GTO the other day with the big dog in 2nd gear @ 80 mph (the GTO driver also could drive) woulda loved to have been a few car links behind hearing the sound bounce all around between the concrete walls ... Sad though, as it's in storage now.

Read the GMMG sound is a real car guy thing - I don't think 90% of the eligible female population are impressed by the GMMG sound.

The Magnaflow sounds nothing like it ... it has a deeper rumble over stock to it. I now can tell there's a V8 in the car. Stock, my fam would say - "Oh, I didn't hear you pull into the driveway".

Overhead (a couple of teenaged car guys) at the car wash I go to, "Hey, that guy doesn't have a stock exhaust system on that car".

It sounds mean, but you won't hear it if there's a LT1 or LS1 F-body next to you. You won't scare them, or any Mustang or ricer either, cause you can't rev you engine - WTF would that hurt??? You won't take down an F-body with this exhaust - don't even try. (Reference the 0-100 part of the Folsom Lake vid).

Though, your girlfriend will be able to tell that your MCSS is allot meaner than her ex's ricer with the fart can exhaust system.

They're dam nice cars - buy the Magnaflow, throw a K&N filter and pull the horn piece out of the intake box. Throw programming into it ... turn off the DoD and your car will never sound like a ricer. Cheaper fix is use third gear, and enjoy the car.

I congratulate GM and anyone that buys one of these cars. If they aren't the fastest production MCSS or Imp SS's to date, they're a Top 2 or 3. Just need to get around that electronic nanny stuff to really enjoy the car.
