Default final drive ratio

so chevy. com says its 2.93 for the ss model but GM Dealer Service Information site says 3.29 so who is right

I think there was a topic on this already a month or two ago. Its a 3.29 axle ratio, but the drive chain reduction makes it 2.93 in the end. All i know is mine rings out to 61 mph in 1st spinning to 6500 RPMS now lol

NO BOG on the 1-2 anymore.

Both are right. 3.29 final gear, 2.93 effective final drive via non 1:1 chain drive.


Took a calculator to it and even allowing for a generous amount of error with my tach and speedo, my '06 definitely has an effective ratio of 2.93. No where close to 3.29.

sorry to rob this thread, but what did you do to the lt-1 caprice. I had a 94 Caprice Classic, loaded and with leather. Lightly modded, fun car, real sleaper except for the headers, no cats and flowmasters.

RAISS, 3.73, 400lb Eaton, LT4 KM, programming, 2800 stall Edge, built 4L60E, 255/60's, exhaust, springs/1.6 rr's, composite valve covers, etc. Getting a cheapie rebuild (238K on it) and a 395 cam this Spring after it warms up. Going for all-out torque, after the cam I think it will take the LS4 in the quarter if I can get traction.
