K&N Aircharger

On the website they have one listed for 2006 - 2007 Impala 2006 - 2007 Grand Prix but only the 2007 Monte Carlo. I sent them an email and they sent me this generic response saying that if it isn't listed on the website it wouldn't work. I don't see why it wouldn't fit. I just wanted to make sure and see if someone installed it in a 2006 Monte Carlo.

It works on a 2006 MCSS too.

Thanks, they had them on sale at autoanything for $223 with free shipping so I ordered one. Is it worth the money?

of course

IVe got the K&N kit installed on my SS. I love it! much quicker throttle response, a slightly noticable boost in power, and a sweet sounding growl :drive:
I Had to bend the corner (towards the headlight) of the bottom plate that the ECM bolts to as it was hitting metal ang wouldnt fit quite right. Has anyone else ran into that?

jabronie78 03-20-2007 07:03 PM

I just got mine and I plan on installing it on the weekend. :)

No problems installing it on my Imp. While the directions, moreso the pics in the directions, are useless...it took me about an hour or so to install this on my lunchbreak.

Make sure to keep an eye on your shifting now that you've got a K&N in there. Regardless how light the factory oiling was, it will contaminate your MAF and cause wierd shifting after a while. You'll eventually need to clean your MAF to clear the problem.

Has anyone thought about taking some light compressed air and blowing out some of the excess oil from the filter before installation? I have done this in the past without problem and have had no problems with transmission shifting issues with other cars....

I just checked and cleaned my MAF the other day, after having my CAI intake on for at least 9 months now - it's got a 9" K&N cone filter in it... and my MAF and TB intake hose were still clean, no issues... but since I already had it off to check it, I cleaned the MAF anyway...

Did you by chance run a log before and after the clean to see if the MAF values changed?

06MonteSS 03-21-2007 12:29 PM

oh NOW you tell me...

no, I didn't even think about that, since I don't usually log the MAF values anyway...

live2ride 03-21-2007 01:47 PM

I thought about it since the GM bulletin advised the tech to compare the MAF values of two vehicles and if they are different, NOT to warranty the repair. I plan on logging mine when the temps to go up and the Sun dries everything out to see if it makes a difference.

06MonteSS 03-21-2007 02:13 PM

well, since a CAI and the K&N filters have more airflow than a stock setup, of course the values would be different anyway, right?? that's not a good/fair comparison.

or would they put a MAF from another car into our setup and compare??

I'm guessing that as long as the numbers are close, it'd be fine - cuz you're not going to get the same exact numbers from one car to the next anyway.

live2ride 03-21-2007 07:00 PM

I'll have to go back and look at it, but I think they meant to compare and if the values were lower on the oiled MAF it indicated a messed up MAF.

I'm going to log it anyway so I can see what it really does after a cleaning.

I'm thinking of buying a K&N aircharger. On ajusa.com there going for $200 with a coupon. Anybody know where I can get one cheaper? Thanks

Corny40 03-26-2007 07:06 PM

No, that's about the best deal you're going to get for a new one.

Nikon02 03-26-2007 09:14 PM

Where is the coupon?

pauld325 03-26-2007 10:33 PM

The coupon code is "thankyou" apply it on your check out and you save $20.
