Default No start

Well I had to jump the wifes GXP off, drive it to the dealer and leave it overnight because the battery wanted to take a crap on me. Monday the car was fine, parked it in the driveway and yesterday it would not start with the battery showing a max of 9.4 VDC. Once it was jumped it ran fine on the alternator (still putting out 14.9 via the DIC). I've known of a few Impala/Monte SS owners having issues with batteries but not GXPs. Anyone have any insite to a possible TSB or anything?
Thanks,
Tate

Other than the obvious battery/battery connections there is nothing too relevent to your problem as far as bulletins go. The Chevy's have a bulletin for a bad connection in the ignition wiring but it doesn't show up for the GP, maybe that portion is different on the two makes, but what would I know, I'm just a **** ant service writer that works at a dealership...

Sounds like the famous crappy battery syndrome that myself along with many others here have had. I hope you do not have as much trouble at the dealership than I had. I guess this battery issue is not just MC/IMPALA related. They should put in a 720 CCA battery as a replacement...they did for me and a few others here. They must have too many recycled Toyota parts in those batteries! LOL

Yeah this is what they did, threw in a new 720 CCA battery. Hopefully this is something that will make it to a TSB so everyone can get a better battery and not get stranded anywhere.

Interesting. While i haven't had any problem starting, it doesn't do too well with accessories on for any given amount of time. I stopped at a quick home inspection the other day, threw on the flashers for no more than 10-15min, and she almost didn't turn over afterwards. Also, listening to music while cleaning the interior is a no-no for me...can't do much more than 20min worth w/o starting the car to recharge.

That is pretty much what happened to me for the most part, the odd time it wouldn't start...but most of the time it hardly started. If I were you I'd start trying to get your dealer to change that battery now under warranty. I had a hell of a time to finally get it done, but all is good now. They will try to check everything in the world to see if anything is wrong and they will even try rechanging the battery and telling you all is now well. All this because this issue with this battery doesn't seem to show up on their load tester very easily. I actually had to pull into the service counter, shut the car off, call the guy over, put on all my accessories, pop the hood and took a multimeter and put it on the battery and watch the voltage drop like a stone after only 2 min. I then got back in the car and tried starting it....and all I got was click, click, click. I then told him in an irritated voice....THIS IS NOT NORMAL..I'VE BEEN HERE THREE TIMES WITH THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM....NOW PLEASE CHANGE MY BATTERY!

I have an 07 Imp SS and had a similar problem. Battery went completely dead in about 6 hrs while sitting in the garage. I jumped and was able to keep running. Took it to the dealer and he knew about the problem immediately. They have a notice of some sort for the 06 & 07 where they have to reprogram the computer. Evidently the computer doesnt shut everything done when not in use, In my case approx. 15 systems were being fed although not in use by me. It took them about 45 minutes to reprogram and havent had anymore problems with battery.lol

Had the "no start" issue this AM. Sucks! Was trying to remote-start the car and heard no rumble. I was about 10' from the car, inside the house, with the only thing between us being the brick exterior wall. I'm thinking "WTF?" Head outside and try it again...nada. Lights flash as they should but no cranking or fuel-pump turn on. Still not realizing what's happening. Get in the car and try to start...nothing! ****! Tell the wife what's going on and call my sister-in-law for a jump. Of course of all nights that i don't back into the driveway this is the one time it bites me in the a$$. She backs into the side of the driveway and i push the car out to the street and get it jumped. She's starting now, but here goes yet another issue to add to the list of issues with my car.

Just take it in. You may have to be very persistant with them, but they will change your battery for a 720CCA. All your troubles will disappear. You can actually play the radio while you wait for someone or wash the car, without having to worry about whether or not it will start. The sooner you do it the better.......think of it....the battery is weak, possibly has a bad cell. Your altenator is working overtime just trying to keep the charge up. Definately putting a little wear and tear on the the altenator. Plus no elctronics like low voltages....weird thing start to happen, and problems may arise. My two cents, from someone who when through this hassle.
