Default need more power

I'm feeling the need for more power from my 07 ss. What all can be done? I've already got a custom exhaust and a k&n intake. I've also flipped the motor mount 90 degrees. I'm interested in doing rods, rockers, and springs but don't know where to start or which parts to get. Would I gain anything from doing this before I get a programmer? I'm still waiting on the diablo to come out for the 07. Let me know if you have some suggestions. Need to go faster!!

You will not get the full benefit of anything without a programmer. . . . you want easy power throw on some NO2, someone here was selling a kit a little while ago.

I am waiting for an 07 programmer as well. . . .come on vendors

HP tuners works with 07s. It has supposedly has been working on 07s for just a few months after the 07s came out.

...as long as you have a laptop to work on.

Look around the site. I know BADD did a couple write-ups on the rockers/springs, tranny shift kit (sticky), etc. Part numbers & where to go to get them would all be in those threads.

It looks like the programming and the rockers are the two most effective. The laptop based programmers will allow you to manipulate the fan settings, torque management, differential score protection, catalyst over temp, rev limiter, shift points, tire sizes, etc, the stand alone units are limited in what they can do. The rockers will slightly increase the lift of the baby cam they put in the cars, and the springs will allow you a little higher rev limit. Past that stuff the only way to get a "huge" gain out of these cars is with nitrous short of that turbo kit thats being talked about and those usually run anywhere from $4,500 to $7,000. As far as rods were you talking about pushrods?

I've looked at the hp tuner. Honestly it looks a little too complicated for me. I've got a laptop so that's not an issue. Just looks like I could change too much and get myself in trouble. Maybe it's not too complicated. Anyone with some experiance with it care to share some insight with me??


Oh and yes, I was talking about pushrods. I figure if I'm going to be in there doing in springs and rockers, might as well change them as well.

If you change springs and rockers you need to change pushrods, search around there are many threads talking to both this and how to use an HP programmer

There are a few guys still running the stock push rods. When i do the upgrade i will do the push rods myself, but there are a few that have not.

Why? As long as you are not putting huge spring pressure on the 'rods (and unless you are going with a radical cam, there is no need to do that) and don't intend to spin the motor way past the stock limits the stock pieces should be more than fine.

What evidence do you have that new pushrods are needed with a stock cam?

I have no evidence you need it, but as long as you have it apart why not throw the extra $100 at it? That way when you decide you still need more you don't need to upgrade them. . . I like thinking and building for the future, that is what I am trying to get at.

Any time you change parts like different ratio rockers, heaver springs and such, you push the other parts such as the push rods a little further then they were designed. Engine rpm is not the only factor in causing a failure in something like a push rod. Upgrading your push rods at the same time is just cheap insurance.

And IIRC, with different rockers and springs, the stock LSx pushrods like to bend .
