Wednesday May 30th
On my poor LT1, got the intake off yesterday, looks pretty good underneath for barely being on the good side of a quarter million miles, no real sludge, no bent rods, looks good. Of course, that means my clanking is most likely a broken rod instead of a bent pushrod/collapsed lifter. Appears that I have a passenger side cat-con totally clogged and the rod broke before anything else. Went from a neck-snapping downshift and forward jump (as it was designed to do) to a very, very sad clanking and refusal to move beyond a wobbly idle in 15 seconds. Don't have the space to pull the motor and refuse to spend three times what the car is worth to have it pulled for me....decisions, decisions...
