I've had a "clunk" or "knock" coming from the right-rear of the car for about a year. 4 trips to the dealer later and it's still there. Happens most often when weight transfers from side to side, like when going over uneven pavement or entering a driveway from the side. Not sure if it's similar to your issue, though, b/c it's definitely nowhere near the drivers seat.

The boarder of the windshieldwhere it goes from clear to black dots to black then the moulding.

Yeah I'm not hearing the noise when going up into the driveway.. not so slow. more like doing 10-30 mph and hitting moderate bumps. I'll cheak that heat shield today.

yup, I STILL have this same issue as well... it happens when the right rear tire hits uneven pavement, such as dropping down into a small pothole and coming back up...

doesn't do it when going UP over a bump though - like speed bump... only happens when it drops down into one and comes back up.

I've been under my car and none of the heat shields move or make contact anywhere...

hmmm... wonder if it's that shield on the backside of the rotor making contact???

Making contact with what, though? When i had my bumper replaced, i told the body shop mgr about the clunk. He mentioned that too...the shield on the back of the rotor...but i dismissed it as an entirely different possible sound. He grabbed the wheel and pushed in and pulled on it, and he could get it to somewhat reproduce. Unfortunately, when i got in the car, i couldn't hear it.

I thought it was the exhaust shifting side to side and hitting the bumper cover and frame rail. I replaced the 5 rear rubber hangers and had the system welded up, and i can't get it to make contact now but the noise is still there.

I noticed that the rear sway is awfully close to the exhaust...within 1/2" or so...does that shift up and down when the wheel hits a bump? I could see a combination of exhaust shifting side to side and the sway shifting up and down making that noise, but there are no scuff marks on the sway in that area....?????

I'll try out the wipers later and let you know...sorry bout that.

I thought about the strut mount issue, but they "checked it out" and said they were fine...for whatever the hell that's worth. They had 4 times to look into the clunk. On time #1 they said they couldn't hear it, after having the car for 9 hours. #2 they said it was probably the hitch i installed...adding unforseen rigidity to the frame causing new creaks & moans. #3 i told them it was there before the hitch and they couldn't find the issue but still felt it was the hitch. #4 i took the hitch off and they said it was due to a dent in the rear bumper from when my wife backed into a parked vehicle. I told them the sound arose 6 months before the dent appeared and they were jerking me around.

I haven't asked them about it since. The next time i need to go there...for the window scratched and TPMS errors...i'm going to complain about it again. If they do nothing, i'll call GM directly. I figure 5 attempts is more than enough time for them to do their job.

Definitely not the same sound as mine, then...i can hear it coming from directly behind the rear passenger seat with all windows closed, and i don't believe you can hear it on the outside. Yours may very well be that shield.

Is this all at the same dealer? I had a problem with a dealer not fixing an item after 4+ tries and all that customer service would tell me was to take it to another dealer. It makes sense now because if that dealers techs could have figured it out they would have after 4 tries and maybe someone at another one would know what the hell they were doing.

I have the same rattle from my right rear ... I have always thought it is the exhaust. Mainly hear it on transitions or bumps.

ok, here's another one for you guys... noticed it the other day and can reproduce it every time...

when driving in 3... get up to about 35 or 40 mph... coast till you get down to about 30, then start to give it gas again... I get a clunk/pop sound from the front end... like something is engaging - like something is loose from just coasting then it gets pressure on it again once you hit the gas, so you get that noise... did I explain that right? LOL

Sorry it took so long. I forgot about it and now that it has been raining i've noticed that my wiper stops about 1.5" from the dots on the driver side...seems perfectly aligned.
