Blacked out headlights!
I finally decided to bake the spare headlight in an effort to separate the lens from the housing so that i could paint the chrome...and it's done! Well, not a finished product, but you get the idea!

Sorry about the crappy quality! Here are a couple pics in case you don't want to leave:

If you guys have or come across a broken headlight, or a set of decent headlights at a junkyard or anywhere else, think of me. I need a new reflector for this housing, and will need a new reflector for any of the other lights i need to bake...plus i can't be without the car for an extended period of time, so i can't bake the ones on there now, and i'd like to sell them to recoup the money spent on new ones.
Tell you what, i'll go home on lunch, stop by the rents to p/u their camera, reinstall the headlight, snap some photos, and then post them up again. No sweat! (really)

Regarding the potential reinstall, just be careful you don't beat up the housing too much when you pry them apart. It's hard to avoid when it's so freaking hot, but just be careful. I probably should have spent more time slicing up the sealant before i baked them, as it would have been easier to break apart. Instead, i tried every 10 min to break it apart and ended up beating the housing up pretty good. Not bad enough to be unuseable, but enough so that resealing it could be problematic.
Also remember you'll need to think of something to take the place of the reflector...the OEM amber one doesn't take to 300* for 30min so well
. These headlights are freak huge, after a year I still don't get why. They do work very well though.
Hoping that the black on the red won't be too rice, I see the Corvette C6R has used monochrome since 2005 in the headlight wells.
Thoughts???
but i could ship you the extra headlight i've already done once i finish my new ones for a refundable core + shipping. That way you could install it to see how the black looks before you attempt it yourself.
