Seems like on mine it only happens when RPMS drop below 1000. The whining does happen in other ranges but seems like almost everytime i slow down below 1000 rpms there it goes whining agian and at higher rpms it even gets rid of it and won't happen

Theres nothing wrong with the compressor. it just its design. Ita a variable displacement compressor. Under high dmeand it goes to full displacement and will make some sound. I'm surprised they mated it to the V*. normally you would use this compressor with a smaller displacement engine. The main feature about this compressor is that it doesn cylce on and off. For smaller engins that good for idle quality.

I have an 05 GXP and this "whine" has driven me crazy for two years now. I took it in
and they couldnt "find" the culprit since you can only hear it when taking off at a slow speed. I dont think you can replicate the sound at idle and least I cant. Now I'm past my warranty. It still drives me crazy. I would prefer a "constant" displacement
compressor that didnt whine half the time. I've actually had people notice and ask what is that whine? I think I'll tell them that my supercharger.

The service manager had them put a new compressor on mine but it still has the same noise as before. They were told by GM that this was normal for these cars. Pretty sorry answer but guess we shouldn't expect them to own up to their screwups.

Well my car is in the shop this week, not for the AC noise. For any GXP owners and the other LS4, has anyone had a strange buzzing sound coming from the HUD area or driver dashboard? Its not the lifter noise that many mention thats common with the LS4, but sounds like electricity, like high voltage...
My problem doesn't seem to go away once the car starts up and you hear it. Gets louder as you give it gas and make a right turn, then disappears when you make a left turn. Pretty strange, had the lead tech over at the dealer looking at it and hes not sure what it is.
So anyone else have this? I know I'm probably being super ****, but having the sound of a couple of bees in the dashboard gets irritating when traveling 2.5 hrs on the interstate

JUst today i thought i was hearing an electrical-type buzz near my feet. It didn't happen consistently enough to pinpoint the problem, and i could not replicate the sound no matter how hard i tried.

Well I'll cross my fingers that the tech can pinpoint the problem, and I'll post whether it gets fixed or not. Be good for anyone else who might get this problem down the road and wants to know whether its repairable or not.

I'm having the same problem on my 05 gxp. Found out it was my power steering pump and i am on a budget so i got the piece the other day and now cant find out where to tighten/loosen the belt from. my father thinks that there is a pully you can remove and pop back into place with no problem i have almost every tool available (30+ year old garage tool box all craftsman) so if someone can tell me what to do to get it off that would be great help!?
