I do know that the wheel, with the tire is 52-53 lbs. At least that's what Fedex charged me for (figuring 1-2 lbs for the box and packing).

The reason why I ask is when you lose a pound of weight from the wheel's its like losing 8 pounds of the curb weight. Lighter weight=Better Mileage, better acceleration, less drag, etc. Lightest rims for our vehicle available on Tire Rack are around 19.5 Pounds or so, I believe.

Corny, I believe I heard a while back you were complaining about your 1/4 mile time. How heavy are the rims on your car. I heard once that with each 100 pounds or so on the car you lose 1-2 tenths of a second in the quarter mile. Some of those Rims from Tire Rack are heavy and could negate the upgrades you've done on your car. Those rims look like they really heavy one's that weigh about 30+ pounds a piece. Conversely I wish we could get Titanium rims as they can weigh as low as about 8-10 pounds a piece. You could probably run low to mid 13's with that type of setup.

According to tirerack, the stock GY RSA's are 27lbs, so the stock wheels (according to corny's shipping weight) are 25-27lbs.

Corny & I have discussed downsizing before...probably when he first reported those times. He "claims" he'll go back to 18s at some point...we'll see LOL

I'm stuck on the fence now, between performance and overall look. I've been saying that i'm going to stick with 18s and go all out with performance (eventual engine upgrades and such), but i can't keep my eye/mind off 20's. One of the 20s i'm looking at is 37lbs, so i know if i go that route i can kiss performance buh-bye...the other is 32, i believe. I think i was adding 10lbs per wheel/tire when i was done upsizing (in my mind) with the wheel/tire setup i really want.

Luckily, having no money is keeping me from having to make this very hard decision.

damn!... I wonder why there is such a huge difference between the Montes and Impalas... they're not THAT much heavier to account for that... I'm still getting 20-21mpg with 50/50 city/highway driving - and that's with no DOD... and I romp on it whenever I have clear space in front of me, so I know I'm not babying it.... that's just wierd...

The impala is really capable of getting good mileage to, just need to work with it. The best bet on improving mileage is setting the cruise on the highway, and staying under 3/4 throttle. I've gotten 30 MPG before in my SS on the highway driving from Baltimore to Annapolis. Stay at a consistant speed when you are driving and watch your mileage soar. Maybe be a bit boring but I'm not racing anyone when I'm driving to work.

I'm probably going for Kuhmo tires as my next tires. I like the fact that the tires can take up to 51 PSI's compared to 44 PSI's with the RSA's. And they handle a lot better from what I hear and last a lot longer as well.

I hear plenty of good things about the Ecstas...both the Supra and SPT...and they're cheap, i mean inexpensive, to boot!

I ran Kuhmo Ecsta SPTs for 12K on my last car before it met it's demise. Amazing traction in any weather (minus snow, had separate rims/tires for that). .. .and they seemed to not wear at all. AMAZING!
