Default Newbie here with a question

i was wondering i have a 2006 impala ss
and well right now i have a lot of bills to pay collge etc
and i was wondering for the stock exhaust system can i just take of the resonator and put replace it with an open pipe or how about straight from the catylic converter ??
is there any perfomance gains
is taking of the resonator going to give me a noticible louder sound
and how about only having the catylic converter and no mufflers???

There is a tread on this right now but to answer removing the resonator by itself dosen't sound very good, but should with performance mufflers.if you want really loud a elecric cut out would do the same as no mufflers when you want it to be loud.

A cut-out looks like the best option for you.

I think I got the pack of assorted blades and a cool expandle case for like $10 or $20. . . You could probably even create cool exhaust vents in the pipe. .. oooooo ahhhhh

Anytime your car throws a DTC, your remote start will not work for safty reasons. Your best bet is to get the OEM cat put back on and get a good cat/back system. As I have stated on the other topic, just like this, that I have the Magnaflow cat/back system, but I want it louder, so I ordered a straight pipe to replace the res, but after hearing someone else remove the res and its sounds like crap, I am really thinking about not putting it on.

It only sounds bad when you're reving past 3.5k rpm's at idle....you guys are really exaggerating. It sounds mean when you're driving. My experience is with flows and no res though. Not stock pipes. Sound clips are almost totally useless unless you have a nice microphone

!Res only sounds tiny when revving in neutral or park due to no load on the engine. In drive it sounds 100x better.
