Why couldn't I

VS
A the 45 offset wheel they recommend, like the one below:

other than the fact it would stick out a little bit without wheel flares? Would it affect the ride, handling, or performance?
I just like the look of a dished wheel vs the flat appearance of today's offset rims!

FWIW, our offset is +52...so even a +40 or +35 would give you a decent "dish" and still be OK to install. I'm looking at a 20" set that have a good size lip that are +40...and i think those "bullit" or "bullet" style wheels (like on mustangs...appear to be very close to the ones shown above) are available for our cars, too.

If anything, these have potential if they actually fit...I dont think they will though:
Since we are on this topic, thought I would send in my two sence worth and let y'all know the isses I've ran into going with aftermarket wheels and tires. I have got 20x8.5 wheels with an offset of +35 on my MC and it did really give it more of the look I was wanting to go for. I did, however, not long after I got my weeels put 1/4" wheel spacers on the back to more even out the look front to back. (If you're a real wheel person, you notice, especially on front wheel drive cars with aftermarket wheels and tires, that the rear wheels and tires are "sucked" into the wheel wells more than the fronts and to me it doesn't look right as you look down the longitudinal lines of the car. Hence, putting on the spacers to give it more of an even look). Anywho, the 1/4" spacers gave me about the same extra width on the back as a +25 to +30 offset wheel approx. Well, needless to say, I began to have major rubbing problems with my rear tires on the outside of the wheel wells. And this was with nobody in the back seat and only the weight of my subwoffer box in the trunk. Quite often on bumps or dips in the road when the suspension would have much of any travel at all, I would get some pretty bad scraping of my tires. Bad enough that it market up the sidewalls of my tires to the extent I had to buy two new tires for the back. So in short, you DO NOT want to go any bigger than a +35 offset wheel or you WILL run into rubbing issues, I guarantee it!!!!! Unless you want to go with some sort of ride assist in the rear. I have included some photos of my wheels on my car to help give some of you who are looking at getting some wheels and tires an idea of the look, hopefully it will help. HAPPY SHOPPING!!!!!!!
