Default Monte SS resale value?

I'm wondering what will happen to prices of used Monte SSs now that they arent being made anymore. I found an 06 silver SS with 9000 miles, sunroof and polished wheels for $18990 at a Chevy dealer. It doesnt have leather, but I prefer cloth anyway. If I can beat them down to $18000, I might buy it on Sat. It listed at $29750 and it seems to have already taken a huge bite of depreciation. It would be an extra car for pleasure driving since I am leasing an 07 Grand Prix. I have a new V8 Camaro locked in for supplier price in spring of 09. I would be keeping it til then and I dont think it will drop in value more than 3 or 4 grand by then. If anyone is currently shopping their 06 Monte SS for another vehicle, I was wondering what dealers were offering you for trade. Thanks in advance for responding.

That sounds like a good deal, 9000 miles is low for an 06 so it must be like new, and like you said it listed for $29,750 at one time. I bet they'll take $18k for it if they want to make a quick sale. Just as a reference, my car ( 06 Impala SS with 14k miles) is worth about $18k on trade, so if you can get this car for $18k, I'd say your doing good.

I'm gonna bitch about it not having leather, offer $18000 and walk away. If I can get a loan, I'm gonna drive it home.

Bought my 06 SS from a private seller for $19000. 6500 miles, garage kept and stored. No leather, cloth. No sunroof, but it already had the Magnaflow catback on it and tinted windows. He was asking $22000.

I would start lower, its an 06 without some desirable (at least on these cars) options such as leather. My 06 stickered closer to $31k, and it was fully optioned. I would see about starting at about $17k, and moving up from there. It has 9,000 miles, which is not much, but these aren't highly sought after performance cars....so it is a depreciating asset as of now.

Car was built in 02/06 and sat at the dealer for over a year. Its in service date is 3/21/07. Looks like someone at GM picked it up as it was registered in Warren MI, where GM has a tech center. Sold at a GM dealer only auction as a manufacturers vehicle on 9/6/07 at 8992 miles. Has been for sale since then at the Chevy dealer where I went to look at it. Currently has 9195 miles and is certified with a 5 year, 100,000 miles powertrain warranty. My loan got approved at their asking price of $18990, but I figured they only paid $16500 for it, so I offered $18000. They came back at $18490 and I said no. They said the only way they could take $18000 for it was to cancel the 5 yr/100,000 ext. warranty. I told them they sure dont want to sell the car even though its been on their lot for 90 days and left. I think I'd rather go a few rounds with Mike Tyson than deal with used car salesmen. I have since found some real nice, very low mile loaded 07s under $20000 and I am headed in that direction.

Good work, If I can pay $22k for mine brand new, then they can do better than $18k. That's why I was suggesting lower.
