Oil Change
"It's been sittin' in the ground for millions of years and they (dealers) tell me it's gotta go in three months????"
Actually, he DOES say that...
He always jokes with my uncle, a GM tech, about the dealers & oil change places knowing more about maintenance of engines than the engineers that developed them. The engineers developed the OLM for a reason, didn't they?In fact, while it was on the lift at the dealer for the rack, i had them swap my oil with Mobil1 & M1 filter that i provided...just b/c it was already up there and it's damn cold out. They put a sticker on my windshield stating it was due again in April and/or 3000mi from now (although they DID know to reset the OLM in the DIC)

I don't have your answer, though. I've never had a garage queen, so i wouldn't know what to tell ya.

I might go in for an oil change within the next couple weeks. I changed my oil at about 600 miles, and that new oil's been in for about 5 months. BTW: I thought that it was better to swithch to synthetic after 3,000 miles? So the motor is properly broken in....?
I use 10W30 Valvoline full synthetic, and the $7 NAPA filter, forget the name right now. I change it once a year. The oil is so clean I used to pour it into my old beater.
I use 10W30 Valvoline semi-synthetic in the MCSS, the same NAPA filter, and use the OLM.

Also a note, our oil life monitors work on a formula driven by factors of how the engine has been used. If it sees that the oil isn't getting heated up or used in a more abusive way, it adjusts the life monitor accordingly. And the OLM is guaged to rate against Dino oil, not synthetic. Synthetic will actually last longer than what the OLM is rated for.
