Yuck....Dexycool My Ford buddy and I were looking at the Whale the other day and I opened up the coolant bottle only to find boogers in my bottle.....DEXYCOOL BOOGERS!!!! Now I'd like to think that Whales have boogers but not in their coolant bottles.... Naturally Mr.Blue Oval Certified was laughing at me and I told him to go blow a head gasket. This car sat over a year before I came around and bought it. Is this Dexycool going to make boogers like this or should I get into the ZONE...AUTO ZONE and get some Prestone? Never saw this in cars with Jolly Green coolant.

Yep very important to flush , my wifes taurus ran low on coolant so i decided to flush it a crap load of GUNK came out of the heater core. Its very difficult to change a heater core it requires removal of the dash in 99.9 % of the cases. So a few minutes of your time or a few dollars at the dealership is worth it and a clogged heater core is also poor flow for the engine not sure if we have a bypass coolant hose from the heater core i've never really looked yet. I guess i'll flush mine this coming weekend.
Just take off the overflow tank, clean it out and put a fresh mix of 50% dexcool and 50%distill water in there.
Next open up your cap on the radator and see how much sludge is around the cap. If you do not have much, just clean if off and your good to go. If you had alot or if its "caked" on, then take it to the dealer for a flush. They will do this under warranty or atleast should.

No its not. If its starting to slugde up sooner then they say it will, it needs to be flushed.
I am going to bet anything that most of the people on this board do not flush it every 2 years or 20k miles.

I actually went to the dealer at around 25k to get it flushed and they told me theres no reason to because dexcool is supposed to last up to 100k? I mean I know it lasts longer than the green stuff but c'mon, 100k?? I think I'm gonna flush it next week. Good thing I saw this thread to remind me.
