Had to Sell The SS last week...
to make a long story short, the monte decided to stay stuck in park.
when i hit the brake, the lever wouldnt budge....
thier was a chevy dealer thier and at first didnt wanna work on it because they dont make the monte carlo thier
then after an hour of arguing, the guy decided to look at it.... and luckily they were able to do a shitty but quick fix..
i guess thiers a cable that goes to the sensor for the brake... that releases the lever... that cable got fried.. they said it got over heated on the trip..
so they did some 10 minute fix and we hauled *** back to us... and the next day i sold it, and i bought me a 2007 sierra lowered on 22's
that monte carlo gave me so many problems.... and the embarrasement of it staying in park when i was picking a hot girl up and taking her to a party pissed me off more than anything
so R.I.P. monte.... have a nice life with a new owner... and hopefully they will tolerate your ****
anywho... just thought i would let u all know

When I got it home, I found the the ground wire was fried off the harness going into the shifter. Did some soldering and it's been fine. Not a big confidence booster for quality control though....
I have to take my foot off the brake with the car's engine off to release the key.
Bass-ackwards from what they intended. You guys think the park-lock / key release cable is getting stretched / loose? Hopefully that too is not "electronic".
This past month the car is really making me regret purchasing the car.
Also, that body style as really grown on me so much. I first hated it when I saw it late 2005 and told anyone i knew I would never own one. But after having the same body style from 2001 to 2007, I wanted a change.
These are great cars. Trust me, I have been really down on it before, but after I sit back and think about it, i relize that these Monte Carlos are a solid car, just needs alittle TLC.
I do get mad and question/regret my purchase when I gotta go to the dealership to service things that shouldn't be happenin' to a brand new car.
I do miss the knight shield emblem though a little untill I feel/hear the V8 lol.
But then I remember why I got it. AAAAhhhh the last Monte for a while if not forever.

I personally like the car, it's just that I've got more lights on the dash this past month then on the outside of the car.
I will have to resist the temptation of the G8, but it's not a 2-door. I'm also upside down on the mileage, so selling may not even be an option.
I just bought a house again, so I will have a 2 stall garage that I can jack the car up and have a look at it in a couple of weeks. (Z's hibernating in my condo's garage, don't think it will make it back up an icy driveway if I take it out)
Wait ... thinking Camaro tunnel. Is the linkage in front of the driver? Is it a cable anyone? Anyone got a parts explosion they can get me of the trans linkage / brake / steering column interlock?
