Hawk HPS or Akebono Pads?
I'm replacing my rotors with the R1Concepts Drilled and Slotted rotors and don't know which pad to go with. Should I go with the Hawk HPS Ferro-Carbon Pads, or the Akebono Ceramic pads?

Thoughts? Price won't be a deciding factor, as they're both around $130 for the set.

Thanks for the input. I am leaning towards those b/c they're ceramics, and Hawk doesn't make a ceramic pad for my car.
...Which is weird to begin with. We share the rear brakes with the previous gen W-bodies...going back to the 90's, i believe. But they recently bumped the front calipers to dual-piston, so they modified the pads. I guess it's about time they did this, but still a PITA for companies to have to R&D new pads (and rotors)...and it's 3 model-years later, already.

I'm sure you've already bought pads for your car, but EBC makes some good pads. They have 3 performance levels and are priced decent as well. I'm running EBC redstuff ceramics on the frt of my 87 MCSS now and I had EBC redstuff frt and rear on my 01 MCSS before i traded it in on my 07 MCSS. Cheaper than Hawk or Akebono and I'd say they are just as good if not better.
Green Stuff= Organic (everyday brakes) Red Stuff=Ceramic(performance brakes)
Yellow Stuff=Kevlar(Heavy duty and track use brakes)

Still haven't bought anything yet. Just dumped $1000 into a Pioneer DVD/NAV unit and associated install items...so not enough brake money left to get the rotors and the pads atm...but thanks for the opinions.
Aren't the Hawks going to create a ton of dust compared to the ceramics, though? I'm putting black 20s on come spring so I don't want to have to wipe that **** off every day. On that note, though...i guess it would be less noticeable than on the stock polished wheels.

With my 04 Monte SS, I only used the HPS pads with my rims. Never had to clean them as much as I had to with stock pads. Also, with the powerslot rotors, they grip like hell and were great. Now that the newer Monte/Impala have the dual piston cals, the HPS pads would only make braking that much more fun
