I am going to do an LS4 drive train and wire harness conversion into my 88 Fiero but my 06 Montecarlo SS did not have the Tap Shift or remote start from the factory. Can I add the two functions to the swap using factory stuff? I don't want to use after market add ons.
So basically this would be the same exact process as adding Tap Shift and remote start to a stock LS4 car.

GXP is the only LS4 that had the tap-shift setup... monte's and impala's did not... so see if you can find the necessary stuff from a GXP to do that... the wiring harness, the steering wheel, any necessary tranny controls for the tapshift stuff, etc etc...

You want to double check with Ryan over on PFF. He tells me that he wired the paddle shifters on BLKCOFY's LS4 swap directly to the TCM. It will definately depend on the operating system loaded into the TCM.
Just FYI, if you know the VIN of the donor car, you can go here to get the O/S: http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
I'm sure GM could tell you if that O/S supports Tapshift.
The "calibration details" screen in HPT also records the ECM and TCM operating systems. For the 2005 GP GXP I have TCM O/S: 24235742
**Edit - remote start is another function controlled through the BCM. If you don't have one, or if the one you have didn't support remote start, then you are going to have to look at an aftermarket unit**

This issue was discussed on the Fiero forum. I have the 06 gxp manuals and they show some different valves in the tap shift trans. The tcm also has a different number. (don't know what that means) The paddles are just switches that switch different resistor values on a single line to the tcm. I think that the hard parts in the trans will be the big issue.
Good Luck
