Vector Motorsports is your better bet. They have dyno'd these LS4 cars and have come up with a great Canned tune for us.

Go with them or get the HP tuner and learn how to tune.

Or you could wait a lifetime for Diablosport.

I went to Google and located VM's address. They're located just off I-94, north of Detroit, so my driving there is out of the question. I may send for one of their tuners but don't know the first thing about plugging it into the ECM outlet and getting readings. Although with the proper instructions, I guess I could learn. I'm just worried about voiding my new car warranty. All I want is a louder exhaust note for my LaCrosse Super.

I have a 07 Impala SS and I went with TrifectaPerformance. Great tune & Vince is a pleasure to work with. I haven't had an opportunity to go to the track, but I can tell the difference in continuous pull and firmer shifts throughout the speed range. I previously had a performance tune done by a local tuner using HP software but Vince's tune felt much stronger. The HP tune was OK (best 1/4 mile 14.7 on street tires), but unfortunately the tuner wasn't as proficient with Imp's (I was his first and only one) as he was with Mustangs so my performance wasn't that great. This proved to be a problem. Plus I had to take the car back to his shop anytime I needed to go back to stock. I looked at buying the HP Tuner but I didn't want to learn the software. I was looking for a programmer as a alternative solution similar to the Diablo Tuner and ran across TrifectaPerformance who is a sponsor at LS1.

When I first read about TrifectaPerformance, they offered the ability to ship a programmer with a performance tune to you which you installed, then you would send the programmer back. My problem was that I needed to be able to revert back to the stock tune throughout the year which could get expensive at $50/shipment. I emailed Vince at Trifecta and asked him about purchasing the programmer instead of shipping it back and forth every time I needed to change my tune. Vince called me and It turns out he was already working on a solution. I happily volunteered to be a beta tester. He shipped me a programming cable and interface box and emailed me the software plus 3 tunes (Stock, Performance & Track) and instructions. With a laptop I was able to load a tune in 10 minutes (5 minutes for the ECM & 5 minutes for the TCM)...fantastic. I can now go from the performance tune back to stock anytime. The box and cable fit under my backseat.

Talking to Vince, he is going to be updating his website with this new package offering. He is going to be offering the programming cable as a $250 option. So for $250 + the price of a tune, you get the programming cable, and 2 extra tunes for your vehicle (e.g. stock, and track tune).

I highly recommend the Trifecta tune. I am extremely happy with the quality of the tunes, ease of the tune installation and especially the customer service.

I wouldnt worry about your warranty. Just call them and ask for Chris. He will talk you through how to take off your ECM/TCM. IT takes about 5 mins to take them off and then ship them off. If you cant afford to do that, then ask them about the tune they can send you on the computer with hand held programmer to get it in your car.

If you want Louder, just take off the res, go catless and bullet style mufflers, do not get the Magnaflow. YOu could also get the 44's by flowmaster, but the problem our cars have is that 1. there are no headers and 2. they put the V8 in the wrong way, IF it was the other way around, we could have headers and a louder exhaust noted. TRust me. Do a search on some of my topics and you wil lfind that I was really upset with the outcome of the magnaflow and spent another 400+ just to get the sound where it is now

See, when I talked to Vince, he really couldnt tell me what changes they make other then the basic ones. I asked him about firm shift points, trans line pressure, etc and he said that I would have to give him all that info to get a soild tune from him. That right there scared me away because if they have to ask you to provide things upfront to them, and since he has only tuned 3 LS4 cars to date, I went with Vector Motorsports. It was worth the 2 day down time and the car feels awesome. Now if Vince could provide the info on everything he tunes, I would think about getting this programmer from him.

Hell, maybe I will wait out for the Diablosport....................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ......................................

I apologize, Taz34SS, we've had problems with our detailed tune specs ending up in other tuners' tunes when we've been generous with tune details over the phone so we try to be careful about how much detail we discuss.

I can respect that and understand that, but when I am looking for a custom tune and a company. I want to beable to trust them, and have them trust me. I was all for ordering the product from you, but when you really couldnt answer most of my questions, it just gave me a bad feeling about your tuning of the LS4. IF you would like to PM me and talk about things, I would be more then happy to talk about the things you can do with your tune and maybe we can get an order going for myself and my wifes car aswell.

Vince, this does show me you do care about your customers and this post does mean alot. PM me and lets talk. Atleast you are more open then another company I know...

Vince,

Do you support the 05 GXP's? I reviewed your website and only saw 06-08's. Thanks in advance.
