Default Monte Carlo door speakers
I have an 06 SS and just replaced the rear 6x9's, sounds better for sure. I have a set of 6.5" for the doors, but have not put them in yet. I have the stock basic 4 speaker system.

I was told I need an adapter to put in aftermarket 6.5" in the doors due to the fact that the stock tweeters are run seperate? Is this correct or only for the 8 speaker set up?

you shouldn't need an adapter. you would just replace the speakers and not the tweeters but i'm not too familiar with audio

do your 6x9s make more bass? what speakers did you get for front and rear deck?

The tweeters are only seperate if you have the 8 speaker system. in the 4 system the tweeter is in the center of the bass cone. no adapter.

to be sure you don't have the 8 speaker system check in your trunk under the rear deck and see if you have a small amp

They're Sony speakers, rears definitely sound better now. Thanks for the info, now I can change the front.

there is a 32 by 10 inch space in the back of your trunk that is most likley being unused and is pefect for a 12 or 2. in a sealed box.

My box is so big it covers it and is extremly difficult to get to it plus u can easily use the spare tire area as a enclosure for a small sub very usefull :X
