Default 3rd times a charm?? well hopefully!

Well I'm taking my MCSS back to the dealer again for the 3rd time for the seatbelt light and air bag light. The first repair was a right side pre-tensioner, the second time was a supposed short in the passanger presence system. I can't imagine what there going to pretend to fix this time. I've read about this problem, it apears there is some sort of short in the BCM, it may or may not be my problem. At least they see a trouble code and are not giving me the old "can not duplicate problem" BS. If it isn't fixed this time I think I'll be contacting a GM Rep. about it and possibly lemon law time, after all this could be a huge deal if I were to get into an accident and the air bags and or seatbelt doesn't work properly. What do you guys think I should do?

i had the same issue it was the BCM perm fixed it as for the lemon law do you want rid of your monte carlo. I would get rid of mine in a heart beat and try to find another one thats brand new. so i can rag on it all over again plus i would do a few things diffrently as for my exhaust and the way i wired my car.

Nah don't wanna get rid of it, just don't want an issue with an accident and possible inactive airbags or seatbelts, since it apears these cars have some type of electro magnet in them that draws other vehicles into em! Haha.

I've had this problem so long that I gave up trying to get it fixed. The electronics in these cars (seems to be montes only) suck a fat one.

Goodluck on getting this fixed. I had a service airbag warning coming on, however that was a very simple problem. Damn Tweeter forgot to plug the harness for the airbag/seatbelt light in the dash back in when they put the trim piece back on after installing my D3 haha. Too bad yours isn't a stupid simple issue like that.

I agree. Aside from the Keyless entry/TPMS issues, which affect both the Monte & Impala, the Monte seems to have WAY more electrical issues than the Impala.

I had the same issue about a year ago. It was the BCM and a sensor relay. After those were replaced no problems. I had to take the car to the dealer as soon as the light came on because when I shut the car off the system would reset for a couple of days. So when it came on the last time, I hualed *** to the dealer and gave it to them in the service drive still running. Told the tech what was what, showed him the issue and viola!!!!!! all is fixed!

I had that problem. the dealer said there was a wire over by the passenger side seat hinge that rubbed through. the air bag, seat belt lights would stay on and the onstar would shut down.

Well guess what light turned back on yesterday, that's right my seatbelt light/air bag light. So I guess third time wasn't a charm. I've got another apointment on the 30th, this time I'm going to at least try and request then to change out the BCM. Wish me luck!

I had some code for slow response or something at the throttle body. At least that's what onstar said, I can honestly say I wasn't worried about it and I'm still not, I have no check engine light, but I'll have the stearler look at it anyways.

I haven't gotten it in yet. I wanted to make sure that I had a loaner and they never called me back, nor did I call them so this week may be a bust for this... No lights have came on this week, but I think I have an iea as to why I got the check engine light for the Misfire. I think that 3 inch DP fouled up my rear O2. Eh I need to get a Tech 2 so I can fix this car on my own. I might have it go in not next week bu the week after...

Ok the dealer wants to replace the passenger side seatbelt...that should kill the airbag/seatbelt light. My Misfre code they are blaming on my K and N. i'll pull it temporarily and if it comes back they can have at it... I really thinkt hat 3 inch downpipe foulded up my O2. That lean code is still in the system as well. My low oil level light, nothing they can do about it as it apears fine.

Wow, that was the first thing they changed on mine aswelll, said the pre-tensioner has grounded/shorted, the after I brought it back the second time the supposidly found a wire damaged under the pass. Seat. Then the trird time they said there was a loose conection somewere, and now after the forth time they finally changed out the BCM, after I had words with them. All I can say is good luck!
