Default 1st problem

Went out to the car to start it yesterday and nothing battery dead.
I check it with my volt meter it has 2 volt in it. Love them delco's
piece of crap batteries I mean a car with 1500 miles and a dead battery.
So I call the dealer and they ask me about the problem and I tell the
Service person I have a 06 Monte Carlo with 1500 miles and a dead battery.
And she asked me if its under warranty Duh!!! what morons.
So she said we don't have any techs working today the service department
open and no techs . A service department open and no service brilliant why didn't I think of that.
I'm going to pull the battery and put an Optima Red top and keep there
new delco as a spare.

yup - known issue... had that happen to me... there's a TSB on it...

I actually jumped mine and drove it right to my dealer... once it's running, it's fine. but as soon as you turn it off, within seconds it's dead and won't start. They tested it and there were bad cells in it.

take it to dealer and they'll give ya a new delco Pro series... for free... it's a bigger/better cranking amp battery too... higher ratings than the stock one that's in there.

had that new Pro series in there for the past 2 years, and haven't had any issues at all...

I had the same issue Mel. Well the battery just died, granted I rarely drive my car, but geez. I threw an optima red top in there. They can keep the useless delco.

BTW: our Optima battery is a #35

I have a #36 in my car, but it was a ROYAL B&#^H to install! That's all they had at AutoZone and I wasn't in the mood to wait a week for one.

why ? i have 3 ,2 in my trunk one in my engine bay i don't really see the point of moving it unless you want more batterys. i used 2 DeepCycle optima batterys and replacment AC-Delco. Picked the optima's cause there lighter not cause of quality.

The difference in 9 years is that they went through "cost cutting" to the point that they're made in Mexico or China with inferior components.

No one makes money if batteries last sooo long, but they also miss the fact that none of us will buy an inferior Delco to replace our inferior Delco.

I could see if it were possible for your warranty to expire already due to in-service date, but I don't think the Monte came out until late '05...so that's not even possible. I got my imp in 9/'05, so if it weren't for mileage, she'd be out of warranty by october for that reason.

FWIW, my OEM battery s**t the bed a few months ago and they replaced it with a bigger ACDelco (725cca?). Haven't had a problem since. For a while, I couldn't even leave the radio or hazards on for more than 7-8min w/o it dying. The new one will get the test in July when we go camping. We hook up 12v lighting for the tents at night, and usually by morning, after only 30min of use, the car wouldn't crank over. We'll see if the new(er) batter will handle it.

I left my hazards on this AM during an inspection and it was fine after 1-1/2 hours...cranked right over.

On a completely different, hijacked note:

I am sick and tired of everyone thinking my car is a fricken' impala. Seriously. I took the car into the dealer a short time ago for a DRL problem and the tech looks me in the eye and says "clean impala dude!" I almost died. I am at the local show and shine cruise in...car is all pretty-ed up, I'm parked with OTHER MONTE CARLOS and some asshat in a big chevy bowtie shirt spot me standing next to cars chattin' in up with my MC buddies and comes running up to me and asked if I like the 350 in my impala....I didn't know where to start. No offense to the impy guys here, but honestly, my car isn't some 4-door family hauler! When I took my car to lower with one of my buddies who owns a shop, he writes up the invoice as "lower impala ss, ssc springs-$200." Aside from the headlights and front end (kinda sorta?) these cars are completely different. 4 doors--2 doors. Long nose, short trunk--long nose, long trunk. High glass line--low glass line. triangle taillights--stacked taillights.

Honestly stop it.
