Raced a G8 GT today.

Let me guess you got that straight from motor trend.
Umm not for nothing these W Cars are the only thing keep Chevy alive right now. Old or not it's a working design, durable, comfortable, and fuel effiecient. On a sporting front, if anyone knows how to put power to the front wheels it's GM.The old GEN1 Sport model Wbodies can run cirlces around like 90% of the new cars today and they drive very well. Even the ones with the 15inch wheels! They might've been slow but what car back then was fast? A TPI was lucky to break into the 15's. check the reviews
I just find comments like that about the W-body very short sighted. That has the average "enthusiast" blind to a perfectly fine car as the W-body for example. I bet you never noticed you dont get any of that nasty wheel hop that plauges other cars that were "built" for power such as a CTS-V, GTO, '03 Cobras. And those older mustangs dont drive all that wonderfull either. I guess its just comes down to whether or not you can do a doughnut on command... Otherwise I dont see the big deal.
W bodies are capable platforms all years, too bad noone wants to deal with them because they drive the front wheels...That just sounds stupid to type that...
Keep in mind I used to drive a Z28 wihich was a fine car as well, but this diffrence in how they drive relative to drive wheels, I dont see it....there is more to a car than the set of wheels that drive it.
BTW I'd love to hear those Dynomaxs'. My setup has gotten louder oddly enough...My new tips help that I know...

305 TPi's ran in the 15's. 350 Tpi's ran in the 14's-a good amount were in the 14.5 ish-give or take a few sec. range.

Yes you are right I mean to say 14's. But I have to say if TPI 350 was into the mid 14's, thats kinda touching into LT1 territory...

My frined had one, hit 14.2's with it. Another friend of his had a 5.0 LX and hit the same 14.2 at Keystone. THe GTA just has a K&N but was otherwise stock. I think it had a shift kit, but not sure. Both cars were 88's.
Another friend has a 305, 88 GTA auto and he was hitting 15.1's. He toook out of the AIR pump and a K&N but otherwise no additional mods.
There was a guy over on 3rdgen site that hit a 13.8 with his GTA with just a shock change. He had a video. Go and take a look. I never would have believed it had I not seen it on vid.
With a decent driver they are not pigs by any means. My 89 was ok for a stock one. have not looked, but I would imagine that the LS4's are turning better times.

I test drove a G8 GT and it would kill my car. Even with my mods I don't think I'd stand a chance. I think they put down 290-310hp at the wheels. The G8 is heavier but its got better gearing and a wider power band. If only, I would have known that the G8 was coming, when I bought my car, I would have waited. I love my car, but a G8 just kills!

I'd have to disagree I drove to the dealership in my GXP and I only have a SLP exhaust system and just a cone filter, test drove a G8 GT was not as impressed as I wanted to be, I guess its just because all of that hype about the rear wheel drive...................ps I dont think that G8 GT will pull on me my stock run was 2.0 60' 13.85@97mph and with the simple mods listed above I got 2.0 60' 13.7@102mph and the GXP responds a lot faster in real world driving in every gear!!

I have run a 13.96@98.5 stock with a 2.06 60ft but that was only once. With my down pipe I was hitting 14.22@99.8mph with a 2.25 60ft (13.8's with a 2.0?) I have been dyno tuned, have added a cat back and a cold air inductions intake, and the G8 will clean my clock. Maybe I should drive one again?? My GXP is much nicer IMHO but I'm pretty much maxed out!
