![Question](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Installed the K&N intake three days ago (63-3059) followed instr.
to the letter.. Took my time and made sure everything was perfect. Everything is tight and no leaks. Install was a breeze. Car sounds like a beast
when you get on it.
But i feel like car lost some power, it definately is not pulling as hard as before. Sounds like it sucking in a lot more air! But now car feels almost bogged down or restricted. Also seems to be shifting earlier at like around 5rpm instead 0f 6rpm. I have about 100mi since install.. my only other
mod to date is a flipped motor mount.
My ? is does the computer need more time to adjust air/fuel mix?
Did search havent heard of this problem any help is greatly appreciated.
And yes i disconnected neg battery term.
Future mods..custom exhaust and either trifecta or hp tuner

Yes.. I did battery disconnect and reconnect.
I originally said I had 100mi since install its probably more like
60-65mi. "I hope thats what it is"
E mailed Vince at trifecta he said it could be oil build up on MAF.
Checked that.. and no oil residue on MAF. But wiped down inner walls and window
w/ a little brake parts cleaner on a cloth. Test it when i go to work tonight.

x2 for fine tuning!
It might be breathing better but, it might not exhausting better. balance is important. Intake, fuel, exhaust....

drove it tonight and its definetly better. Must have been the relearn because
their really wasnt any oil built up on maf. I guess It really does need 100mi to complete the relearn process. It even affected the AFM but that seems to be back to normal.

I'd say most of us haven't gained mpg's b/c we like the sound...lol.
Anyway, don't forget...with intake & exhaust mods, you lose down low, but gain up high. I know I lost some wheelspin power when I installed the K&N then the MF catback...but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I have dyno charts showing my differences. It gained some 1-2 hp below 3k rpm, about double the torque, but started falling off fast over 3k rpm.
The problem with k&n is that even though they flow better ( less restriction ) they result in a much more turbulant airflow, which loses top end

I actually pulled the 3inch down pipe because I just dont have a tuner and that SES light keeps poping up. I have to say the car feels alot better...Its also louder which doesnt make sense to me....Either there is something with the pipe or my mufflers convieniently just decided to break in and confuse the snot out of me....I'm beginning to think that the 3inch was probably too big anyways as from a power standpoint... The response difference is very apparent. Unlike all the other stock 2nd generation W body DP's, maybe GM did this one right...
