Default MAF Screen

Does anyone have a spare MAF screen in good shape? Thanks.

Nope, but I have a spare MAF for just that reason. I took out the screen when I installed my K&N, and by the time we realized that my AFR was all screwy w/o it, I had lost it and had to buy a new MAF. $80 lesson learned.

Its strange when I went to remove my an temporarily I saw my screen was indented...like it was sucked in ward. I stragthen it but it looks like crap....not that anyone sees this but it isnt right...I wonder if the maf sensors are calibrated to the screen...

Best bet is going to be a salvage yard. Could probably go to a "you pick it" junkyard and snag the screen for a couple bucks.

I interested in learning more about your AFR getting all screwed up. What did you notice? Tell me more, please.

Just that when I was going WOT, it wasn't where it should be. I can't remember how far off it was, but iirc it was upwards of 14.5 or something...instead of in the 12's (?). It was throwing off my fuel trims, too. When I reinstalled the screen, it all went back to where it should have been. I no longer have the tuner, so I haven't played with logging in a while and don't know, exactly, what the numbers were.

mine is also 'sucked in'/dented. Damn thing gets turned partially sideways every few months and I start throwing lean codes. As soon as the engine bay cools down. I am going to glue it in, once and for all.

Yep, completely sideways this time, the edge was blocking the MAF wires.

yeah i took mine out hoping to gain a couple hp for the carcraft dyno challenge last summer i had my intake and a straight exhaust no screen dynoed 237.. then the intake melted during autocross put everything back to stock and dynoed 251 the next day the dyno operator said it looked like the engine was dumping un needed fuel in the first time around

I have had mine out for a while now and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Will I gain HP if I put it back in?

It's messing with your airflow across the MAF sensor wire(s)...so you're likely losing HP and screwing up your Fuel Trims (I know I was).

I didn't notice anything either, until I found that I couldn't get my fuel trims in line.

As it turns out, last time I checked my fueling, my screen was not in properly. I assume it was worse with the turbulance than no screen at all, but as an example, I just rechecked the trims on the Predator and I had to adjust it -6, so my fueling was waaay off. Runs quite a bit better under WOT now.
